Ethnics Culture Festival: Festival To Be Held In Yangon From 1st To 7th February

Myanmar Ethnics Culture Festival will appear as second time at Kyaikkasan Sports Ground in Yangon, from the 1st to 7th February, according to a press conference by its organizer, Monday.

The Festival has been organized as of last year and Kayah Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association will organize this year festival in cooperation with Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs’ Association (MEEA), according to the Secretary from Kayah Entrepreneur Association.

Secretary, Kayah Entrepreneur Association, Tay Zar Win Tun said “We have organized this kind of festival starting 2019. This year, the Kayah Entrepreneurs Association will organize the festival in cooperation with Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs’ Association (MEEA). The booths of eight major national races, booths of the self-administered zones, booths of Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs’ Association, Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and Myanmar Forest products Association, altogether 16 will be displayed. As a landmark of Kayah State, Kayah Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association will display Kayah traditional cottage, highlighting traditional cultural heritage through Virtual reality (VR) system.”

The festival will be headed by the two aforementioned associations while under the guidance of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the governments of Yangon Region and Kayah State. There will be over a thousand stalls showcasing everything from traditional clothing to ethnic cuisine.

Secretary, Kayah Entrepreneur Association, Tay Zar Win Tun said “Besides ethic booths, ethnic food stalls, electronic, medicinal and traditional costumes shops will be displayed. The football match, Tawando and the golf tournament will be organized this year festival. We will also organize Miss Ethic Contest in the festival.” 

The Ethnic Culture festival is held once a year and it aims to showcase friendship and unity of ethnic nationals and their traditional culture and custom, to promote tourism and goods and products produced in ethnic nationals’ regions; and to create job and business opportunities for young ethnic nationals.
