Environmental Conservation Efforts: MoNREC UM inspected mining site near Kyaing Latt

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, accompanied by relevant officials, inspected a mining site near Kyaing Latt Town, Tachileik Township, Shan State (East), on January 25. During the inspection tour, responsible officials explained the ongoing work and related situations.

Regarding the explanations, the Union Minister provided necessary guidance and instructions. He then toured and inspected the various stages of mineral extraction and processing operations, as well as the condition of the ecological restoration nursery established there.

Subsequently, the Union Minister met with departmental officials, community leaders, social organizations, literary and cultural groups, ward/village administrators, and local residents at the Indoor Stadium in Mong Hsat Town. He discussed matters related to the reduction of cross-border smoke and haze pollution and fire hotspot occurrences.

Continuing the meeting, the Director General of the Environmental Conservation Department presented on the topic "Cooperation and Participation in Controlling Cross-Border Smoke and Haze Pollution," and the Director General of the Forest Department presented on the topic "Forest Conservation and Sustainable Development of Rural and Urban Areas." Following the presentations and discussions, the Union Minister delivered concluding remarks, after which the meeting concluded.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited the Mong Hsat Township Forest Department office and the Mong Hsat District Environmental Conservation Department office. He gave instructions for necessary coordinated action based on the presentations by the staff. Afterwards, he observed and inspected the air quality monitoring in Mong Hsat Town and the water quality monitoring of the Namt Khok River, issuing necessary directives accordingly, it is learned.
