Environmental Conservation :Efforts for forest conservation in Magwe Region

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi met with the local residents, students and teachers at the Daung Nay Nursery Garden in Magwe Township on Thursday morning.

The Union Minister stressed that taking control the dependance of the residents on natural forests will make the environment green again and also reduce the global warming. Everyone is urged to keep the natural environment healthy and green for the well-being of our new generations and the Ministry will actively participate in providing necessary assistance and fulfill the needs in environmental conservation processes, he added.

It was followed by providing teaching aids, cash assistance and energy efficient stoves to the locals, students and teachers. Then, the Union Minister inspected nursing condition of over 100,000 saplings of 12 plant species and provided necessary instructions.

Then, the Union Minister inspected the 20-acre firewood plantation in Gaegyikone  Village and nursing conditioin of over 75,000 saplings of 17 plant species in Myoma nursery garden. In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited the Environmental Conservation Department and met with staff.

During the meeting, he urged them to emphasize the conservation of ecosystem and biodiversity and effective control of illegal timber and metal extraction as a national duty. On the same day, the Union Minister inspected the 1000-acre natural forests conservation process carried out at Myothit forest reserves No.4, 5, and 6 in Myothit Township, Magwe District.

The Union Minister also inspected the condition of NgaMin and NgaLeik  forest reserves and gave necessary instructions.
