Employment opportunities: CMP Supervisory Committee holds work coordination meeting

The 3rd work coordination meeting of the Cutting, Making, Packaging (CMP) Supervisory Committee of the Ministry of Labour was held on Thursday.

At the meeting, Union Minister for Labour Dr Pwint Hsan said that CMP businesses create the most employment opportunities in Myanmar and generate foreign income and these are the businesses which have long and short term benefits for Myanmar work force and citizens.

The State Administration Council reformed CMP Supervisory Committee with 16-members on 17th March 2022 in order to check the CMP businesses that are being carried out by foreign companies, ethnic nationalities companies and entrepreneurs in line with the procedures set by the state policy.

To support the CPM Supervisory Committee, the 3 Sub-Committees and one Work Supervisory Committee were formed on 24th November 2021. The Union Minister also explained about the CMP factory and workshops in Myanmar are operating based on foreign investment and some factories have closed definitely and temporarily and reduced workforce because of shortage of raw materials, no receiving orders, decreasing income, financial difficulties and unable to pay wages.

There are some factories which have been newly opened and reopened. He stressed the needs on connecting unemployed workers with newly opened factories in accordance with the new normal situation and getting the jobs for the skilled workers returning from abroad depending on their competence.

The Union Minister also called on the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Region and State CMP field inspection teams which were formed by the CMP Supervision Committee to emphasize on getting the correct data in making field trips, to provide necessary support and to discuss the difficulties and the facts to be implemented for strengthening field inspection teams.

Later, the Secretary of the CMP Supervisory Committee Deputy Minister for Labour reported on the responsibilities of the Committee and completion of the decision of the previous meeting and the Committee members submitted their sector-wise reports.
