Electrification: Upper Paung Laung Hydropower Plant inspected

Union Minister for the Ministry of Electric Power and Ministry of Energy U Thaung Han on Saturday inspected the upper Paung Laung Hydropower Plant in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

During the inspection, the Union Minister heard reports on power plant information, annual power production, inflow of water in the dam, the current state of water storage, maintenance, power distribution in connection with the national power system and maintenance and repair of power generators.

In his response, the Union Minister called for systematic storage of water for continuous generation of electricity and for the upcoming summer. He also expressed plans to implement projects in Thanlwin River delta and Ayeyawaddy River delta.

He called on concerned officials to maintain power plants for long-term sustainability and to pay special attention to security.

There, the Union Minister also made inspections of power production process, turbine room, inflow of water in the dam, the current state of water storage, water building, spillway and RCC concrete dam strength condition.

It’s reported that preparations are underway to generate 140 MW from the upper Paung Laung Hydropower Plant, 40 MW from Nancho Hydropower Plant, 280 MW from the lower Paung Laung Hydropower Plant, 166 from the middle Paung Laung Hydropower Plant, 210 MW from Namatu Hsipaw Project, 735 MW from the middle Yeywa Project and 60 MW from Dedoat Project.
