Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo held a coordination meeting with concerned officials in Kengtung of Shan State for more power supply and stable distribution.
In his address, the Union Minister stressed preparations for more power supply and stable distribution, electricity bill collection, water storage at power plants, efforts for power supply by solarpower, windpower, natural gas and hydropower plants and process to generate 195 MW with the use of gas from Shwe Offshore gas field in Kyaukphyu Township.
He urged the officials to draw plans to construct hydropower plants in Shan State. Attendees discussed and reported on electricity distribution in eastern Shan State, power loss reduction plan and other plans.
The Union Minister also inspected the 230 KV Kengtung main power plant, heard report on power supply and gave instructions regarding with the 230 KV power line project to Meikhtila (KanKaung) power plant from Namsan power plant and tranformers and other equipments maintenance.
The 230 KV Kengtung main power plant began power distribution in the year of 2020 to Kengtung and other townships in eastern Shan State.
