







Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin visited power and energy facilities in Nay Pyi Taw on May 16. Accompanied by permanent secretaries and departmental officials, he inspected the National Control Center and the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Control Center.
The Union Minister emphasized the importance of the electricity distribution sector, which directly affects consumers, and highlighted the ongoing transition from outdated metering systems to digital systems to improve efficiency and transparency. He also visited the 230 kV Nay Pyi Taw main power substation, instructing staff to prepare for potential challenges during the rainy season and maintain power lines and switchyards continuously.
Additionally, he inspected the Hydraulic Elevated Dam at Paung Laung Dam for hydroelectric projects, stressing that design and modeling must be carefully verified to ensure safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The Union Minister coordinated with department heads and staff to address technical and operational issues during the inspection.
