The Union Election Commission (UEC) has announced revised dates for the submission, scrutiny, and withdrawal of candidate nomination lists for the upcoming 2025 multi-party democratic general elections, according to Announcement No. 104/2025.

The UEC, exercising its authority under Article 16 of the respective Hluttaw Election Bylaws, previously announced the original dates for candidate registration, scrutiny, and withdrawal on August 20, 2025, via Announcement No. 57/2025.

However, following the Commission’s Announcement No. 103/2025 dated September 14, 2025, elections will not be held in 56 Pyithu Hluttaw constituencies, 9 Amyotha Hluttaw (FPTP) constituencies and 56 Region/State Hluttaw (FPTP) constituencies, due to the lack of conditions for free and fair elections in those areas. Therefore, to allow more time for political parties and independent candidates to prepare, the Commission has extended the deadlines for eligible constituencies.

The revised schedule for candidate nominations starts from September 8, 2025, and the deadline for withdrawal of nominations on September 17. The submission of replacement candidates in PR constituencies is from September 18 to 22. Final nomination deadline will be on September 22,and scrutiny period is set from September 23 to October 4, 2025. The announcement was signed by Than Soe, Chairman of the Union Election Commission.
