In his opening remarks, the Senior General emphasized the importance of reforestation, not only to maintain and protect existing forests but also to replace those lost due to various causes. He noted that forest ecosystems are the foundation of food chains and biodiversity, playing a vital role in sustaining life on Earth.
He urged continuous tree planting efforts and encouraged all to plant trees in every home, street, and neighborhood. He called for not only planting but also systematic maintenance to ensure the survival and growth of each tree. At the ceremony, the Senior General and wife led the planting of teak trees.
Following this, the senior military officials, their spouses, and participating officers and families planted various trees in designated areas. Similar monsoon tree planting ceremonies have been conducted by regional military commands across the country, with a collective goal to restore forests and protect Myanmar’s natural environment.
A total of 2,400 trees were planted during the third event in Nay Pyi Taw alone, and in total, across all units and commands, over 186,000 have been planted this year.
