




Plans are being made to add vocational subjects related to livestock breeding and agriculture into curricula of 50 basic education high schools in the coming academic year.
The program aims to provide professional level training in agriculture and livestock breeding sectors and to be able to turn out the skilled workers. Arrangements are being made for the program at a school in each district of 50 districts.
The program at each school is designed only for 60 students. This 3-year program is only for the students who had passed KG+9. Upon completion, they will be presented with completion certificates.
If the trainees complete the program excellently the relevant subjects, they will be admitted to relevant universities or allowed to attend the training schools such as agriculture, livestock and marine science. According to an official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, plans are being made for those who complete the program in ordinary level to be able to work at relevant industries.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Kyaw Min Oo said “For the program, at the 1st year, eligible students are to learn their relevant academic subjects - Myanmar, English, Maths, Bio, Physics or Chemistry. In the 2nd year, they have to learn ICTU subjects. In the final year, livestock breeding and agricultural matters are major subjects.”
The plan to teach vocational subjects related to livestock breeding and agriculture at 50 basic education high schools is in accordance with the KG+12 education system.
This 3-year program is for the further development of the agricultural and livestock breeding sector in Myanmar.
