Ecotourism Sector: Union Minister Joins Workshop For Ecotourism Development

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung participated in a virtual workshop for ecotourism development. The Union Minister stressed Myanmar Responsible Tourism Policy issued in 2012 and Myanmar Ecotourism Policy and Management Strategy for Protected Areas (2015−2025).

He also said that ecotourism sector can benefit the socio economic status of the locals. Also, the Union Minister urged the attendees to successfully implement the ecotourism industry without environmental degradation. Also, Chairman of the Myanmar Tourism Federation said that Myanmar has resources for ecotourism industry which can also benefit the small and medium enterprises in the country.

He called for discussions on challenges in the Post-COVID-19 Era. This workshop continued with discussions on 4 topics, tourism economic cooperation, local cooperation and socio economic development, responsibilities and ethics of tourists and cooperation between the government and private sector. Those who participated in the discussions with presented with certificates of honour.
