A discussion on electric power, energy and natural disaster management was held at the Ministry of Electric Power on 5th September. It was jointly organized by the Ministry of Electric Power, Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. 

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, Deputy Minister for Electric Power U Aye Kyaw and concerned officials attended the opening ceremony. In his remarks, the Union Minister highlighted the substantial electric power and energy loss not only in Myanmar but also in countries across the world due to devastating natural disasters.

Underscoring the significant damage caused by Cyclone Mocha, Typhoon Yagi and recent Mandalay Earthquake in Myanmar, the Union Minister elaborated on the need of resilient infrastructure and modern technology in electric power distribution and energy storage measures.

He also emphasized on adding precautionary measures in sector-wise work implementation to reduce loss and damage. In his speech, Deputy Minister U Aye Kyaw also made clarifications on undertaking necessary precautionary measures in regions, states, districts and townships to minimize loss and damage due to potential natural disasters. 

He also highlighted the efforts of the relevant individuals in restoring power lines promptly which were temporarily destructed by devastating Mandalay Earthquake. Then, the discussion was continued according to the agenda with the active participation of 150 staff and officials from the ministries of electric power, energy and social welfare, relief and resettlement.
