Disaster Preparedness: Earthquake drill and development works in Sittwe

The earthquake drill was held at No. (4) Basic Education High school in Sittwe Township of Rakhine State on Friday, and it was attended by Chief Minister U Htein Lin.

The Chief Minister in his capacity as Chairman of the Rakhine State Disaster Management Committee,  stated that the drill is aimed to respond the disaster effectively.  He highlighted that by participating in this drill, people could survive the disaster with minimal harm, adding that as disasters can’t be predicted, preventive and preparation measures are crucial.

The Chief Minister also expressed his appreciation for the active participation of the students, faculty memebers and respective organizations in the drill and oversaw the drill process and demonstrations and presented foodstuff to all participants.

Next, the Chief Minister and party proceeded to Lawka Nanda Pagoda, inspected the renovation of the Sasana Beikman and heard reports on current renovation tasks. Upon reports, the Chief Minister instructed to keep the original structures and coordinated necessities.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister and party visited the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems, State High Court and Sittwe Post, oversaw the work implementations and projects initiated by 2025-2026 Financial Year State Government Fund under Quick Win programme and gave necessary instructions.
