The Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, met with and addressed students from the five-year B.Ed. Course No.7 of the University for the Development of the National Races at the Myanmar International Convention Center (1) (MICC-1) in Nay Pyi Taw on October 21.

In his address, the Acting President, SSPC Chairman stated that the University for the Development of National Races has now produced a total of 14,514 graduate teachers. As all of the students will soon graduate and serve as education staff and teachers, he wished to give some necessary instructions.

He noted that the foundation of a country's development is its abundance of educated human resources. Due to past weaknesses in education in the country, development in some regions has lagged, which is evident. Teachers are guides who teach people to love and respect one another, decorators of students' lives and the world, and solvers of sorrows; thus, they are regarded as community leaders and second parents.

He emphasized that teachers must instruct their students to be empathetic towards fellow human beings, to prioritize public welfare over self-interest, and to cultivate a spirit of serving the greater good. They must guide students to internalize the Myanmar ethos of "respecting elders, honoring peers, and showing compassion to the young" deep in their hearts.

Teachers must also educate students to distinguish right from wrong and to correctly understand good and evil, cause and effect. As the country is a Union formed by various national races, the unity of all ethnic groups is vital for the nation's peace, stability, and the endurance of sovereignty, and it is also a major driving force for national development.

In efforts to ensure state stability, peace, and the rule of law, all ethnic people must collaborate unitedly and harmoniously together. Therefore, he urged all ethnic brethren to nurture the Myanmar spirit, uphold the mentality of "We are Myanmar," and work hand in hand with the unified national spirit of being one blood and one flesh to realize national peace and development.

He also instructed them to cultivate in their students from various regions an optimistic spirit, a willingness to cooperate, a sense of unity, a helpful mentality, and other such positive attitudes. He expressed his hope and blessings that they would become good citizens of the nation, serving with all their physical and intellectual capabilities in building an educated generation and a developed state.

Afterwards, on behalf of the students from Batch (7) of the five-year B.Ed. Course No.7 of the University for the Development of the National Races, Saw Kyaw Zay Ya Phyo, a Karen ethnic national from Kangyidaunt Township, Ayeyarwady Region, expressed words of thanks.

Following this, two students respectfully presented a commemorative gift to the Acting President and SSPC Chairman. Subsequently, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman, attendees of the ceremony, and the students took a group photo. Afterwards, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman individually and cordially greeted, inquired after, and encouraged the students, it’s learnt.
