Activists circled the White House on Tuesday to protest the signing of diplomatic treaties between Israel and two Gulf Arab states. The bilateral agreements formalize the normalization of Israel's already thawing relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain in line with their common opposition to Iran.

But the agreements do not address the decades-long conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, who view the treaties as a stab in the back from their fellow Arabs and a betrayal of their cause for a Palestinian state. A coalition of more than 40 organizations and groups supported the protest, and released a join statement that called out the UAE as being complicit in Israel's ongoing theft, colonization, and annexation of Palestinian land.
