Cultural Engagement: President and wife join Lao traditional Baci Ceremony

President U Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended a traditional Lao Baci ceremony in Luang Prabang on Sunday, as part of a cultural engagement during their visit.

The ceremony began with the President lighting the auspicious ceremonial oil lamp, together with the Secretary of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee. During the ceremony, Lao provincial officials and their spouses tied traditional white blessing strings (Sai Sin) around the wrists of the President, his wife, and members of the delegation, while offering prayers and good wishes.

After that, the President and his wife attended a formal luncheon hosted by the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Secretary and his spouse. Before the luncheon, both sides gave welcome and thank-you speeches. During the lunch, a Lao cultural group performed traditional music, singing, and dances.
