Cuba's fuel crisis and long lines are increasing the frustration of embassy vehicle drivers, tourists and locals hoping to fill up their gas tanks.
Long lines for gasoline continued throughout the island on Monday as the fuel crisis increased dramatically this weekend, forcing authorities to suspend activities and ration fuel sales. In previous shortages, tourists and diplomats were spared the lines, with their supplies of gasoline and diesel being guaranteed by the government.
Authorities acknowledged that there would be no immediate solution for the supply of gasoline.According to President, international gasoline suppliers could not comply with scheduled agreements; at the same time, diesel had to be used for electricity generation in small plants.
In addition, the maintenance of power plants that will be under maximum demand in the coming summer months, is being carried out.Last week in Havana, it was also decided to sell only 40 liters for each vehicle.People were not allowed to put gas in jerry cans, but to pump the gas directly into the vehicle's gas tank.
