COVID-19 Vaccine Donation: Nippon Foundation Donates 1 Million Covaxin Vaccines

In addition to purchase, Myanmar has been receiving COVID-19 vaccines donated by friendly countries and associations.

The handover ceremony of 1 million Covaxin COVID-19 vaccines donated by the Nippon Foundation of Japan to Myanmar through the Myanmar Red Cross Society was held on Sunday.

During the ceremony at Yangon International Airport, Executive Director of the Nippon Foundation Mr. MORI Yuji handed over the 1 million Covaxin COVID-19 vaccines to President of the Myanmar Red Cross Society Dr. Maung Maung Myint.

This event was also attended by Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. MARUYAMA Ichiro and other Myanmar and Japanese officials.

Nippon Foundation of Japan has planned to donate 2 million Covaxin COVID-19 vaccines worth 17 million USD to Myanmar. It’s learnt that another 1 million Covaxin COVID-19 vaccines will arrive on the 23rd of January 2022.
