Argentines returned to a strict lockdown on Saturday to curb a resurgence of COVID-19. As restrictions came into force, people in Buenos Aires worried about how the new measures will be enforced as poverty rose in Argentina during the past year. The measures will last from Saturday until May 30, and will limit circulation, as well as suspending social, business, educational, religious and sporting activities. Essential workers will be exempted from the measures. Earlier this week, the South American country exceeded its daily mark of COVID infections and deaths since the pandemic was decreed, recording 35,543 new cases and 745 deaths. Argentina so far has 3.4 million COVID-19 cases and more than 72,000 deaths.
