Cosplayers host event at historic Kitakyushu residence

More than 200 cosplayers gathered Sunday at the Kyu-Yasukawatei residence, a designated tangible cultural property in Kitakyushu, western Japan. The event featured photo and video shoots with participants dressed as anime and video game characters using the historic home and garden as a backdrop. 

The former residence belonged to a prominent businessman from the late 19th to early 20th century. Activities included a miniature steam locomotive ride around the property. Organizers aimed to introduce young people to the site’s history and encourage social interaction. The event highlighted the blending of traditional heritage with contemporary culture.
