A coordination meeting on the development of cotton, oil crops, coffee, meat, and dairy products was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday, with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Prior to the meeting, attendees observed international practices on cultivating animal feed systems, breeding dairy cows, paddy cultivation, sunflower harvesting, oil milling, and animal feeding with the use of machinery through video clips.
In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to boost production in the agriculture and livestock sectors for economic progress. He pointed out that despite support for local food sufficiency, import volumes did not decline and called for solutions to achieve the target.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of encouraging cotton cultivation to benefit the CMP garment industries and MSME businesses, leading to employment opportunities for the local community.
The Prime Minister also discussed the need to strive for increased cultivation of sugarcane and coffee, resulting in increased exports of agricultural products. For dairy products, he highlighted the necessity of local production by establishing factories, along with the success of cattle breeding, to reduce the use of foreign currency.
The Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and attendees provided updated reports on plans for extended cultivation of oil crops, cotton, coffee, sugarcane, and wheat, as well as the construction of oil mills, production of animal feeds, extended breeding of cattle, supply of irrigated water, assistance for agricultural inputs, and producing local cotton wares through MSME industries, as well as export and import conditions.
In response to the reports, the Prime Minister called for the successful implementation of tasks as a national duty, benefiting the entire supply chain process. He urged all to cooperate and collaborate among ministries for the speedy implementation of tasks.
