










A coordination meeting on increasing agricultural production and achieving target yields was held at the Bago Region Government Office on January 16. Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win explained guidelines from the National Defence and Security Council on agriculture and livestock.
He stressed the need to increase crop and livestock production to stabilize commodity prices and ensure food sufficiency at township level.
He instructed officials to complete irrigation works quickly during the winter cropping season, grow crops according to designated zones, expand high-quality export rice varieties, plant Robusta coffee as planned, and promote local processing of oil crops to reduce reliance on imported palm oil.
He also called for inspections of permitted vacant land to ensure proper cultivation. Attendees reported on crop production, winter crops, coffee planting, and pilot farming projects, as well as efforts for local food security and plans to expand agriculture and livestock activities. The Chief Minister provided further instructions for continued implementation at the township level.
