Contract Farming System: Crop cultivation, production and freshwater prawn farming

According to the guidance of the State Administration Council, the State will disburse loans for the production of summer paddy, mung beans and freshwater prawn farming in coming cultivation season and the project is being implemented with the contract farming system.

With cooperation of farmers, breeders syndicate or Farmer and Breeder Cooperative Societies, In-put Companies and Rice millers and Bean Grinders, the relevant Ministries, Federations and Associations will cooperate the program, it was said by Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi at the virtual work coordination meeting on crop cultivation and production with contract farming system and freshwater prawn farming system and work programs.

At the event, the Deputy Minister added that in implementing agriculture and breeding tasks with contract system, formation of farmer syndicate and Farmer Cooperative Societies, selection of those who will perform contract farming system, coordination with in-put companies, signing contract, distribution of in-puts and issuing input costs, purchasing crops, crop production insurance and loan repayment processes will be included.

It also needs to sign a tripartite contract among the farmer syndicate or farmer cooperative societies, in-put companies and rice, edible oil and bean millers in crop cultivation, breeding and production with contract farming system. 

In signing contract, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development will perform as witnesses.

Later, the Director-Generals discussed sector-wise reports on systems and work programs on cultivation and production of crops with the contract farming system and freshwater prawn farming with contract system. Attendees reported sector-wise implementations.
