Contract Farming System: 850,000 acres paddy & 500,000 acre mung bean to be cultivated

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is implementing the contract farming system, aiming to boost agriculture production, to ensure good market price and to increase income by engaging double croppings.

The project will be implemented by the State Economic Promotion Fund in order to promote socio-economic development of local people and economic condition of the nation according to the guidance of the State Administration Council.

On Wednesday, the Unions Ministers who will involved in the work implementations of the project held a coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw.  Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo and officials explained the work process to be coordinated among the ministries, providing inputs to the farmers and income generation plans.

The Union Ministers and the Deputy Ministers also discussed the financial regulations for effective use of the fund, implementation of the project to meet the target for creating job opportunities and increased income, producing quality products with the use of pedigree species and penetrating the international market as well as plans for cooperation in respective sectors and continuous implementation in the next cultivation seasons.

According to the contract farming system, 850,000 acres summer paddy and 500,000 acre mung bean will be cultivated in the coming season.
