Combating Online Scams: Repatriation of citizens involved in online scams

The Myanmar government has repatriated citizens involved in online scams and gambling in Cambodia.

Earlier this month, 136 people were returned via Mandalay International Airport, followed by 50 more on January 25 via the same route, and 190 others via military flights to Myeik Airport. Authorities coordinated with Cambodian officials and Myanmar embassies to investigate, document, and safely return of those involved, while continuing efforts to bring back remaining citizens. Local officials welcomed the returnees and ensured necessary checks and procedures were completed.
