The Myanmar government is working with neighboring countries and international organizations to combat online scams and illegal online gambling, which pose threats globally. As part of these efforts, Myanmar nationals involved in such activities abroad are being repatriated in accordance with the law and humanitarian principles.

In cooperation with the Cambodian government, Myanmar nationals involved in online scam and gambling operations in Cambodia have been transferred to the Myanmar Embassy in Cambodia. As of Friday, a total of 675 Myanmar citizens have arrived at the embassy through voluntary arrangements and official handovers by Cambodian authorities.

Among them, the first batch of 136 people returned to Myanmar on Friday via Mandalay International Airport. Relevant authorities will conduct necessary identity checks, registration, and investigations. The government stated that efforts will continue to repatriate the remaining Myanmar citizens still in Cambodia as soon as possible.
