China's smart steering drilling technology bolsters energy security

Intelligent steering drilling, a class-A strategic leading technology of China Academy of Science (CAS), has made notable strides in application at a production well in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. 

The breakthrough of this cutting-edge equipment system and relevant research are important for safeguarding the country's energy resources. Production testing conducted in early August this year revealed impressive results. The production well yielded 13.5 tons of oil and 42,000 cubic meters of natural gas daily, achieving about five times the output of neighboring wells.
