China's Box Office revenue in 2023 exceeds 30billion Yuan

China's box office revenue has skyrocketed to over 30 billion yuan as of Friday in 2023, surpassing the total of the whole year of 2022. The box office milestone was achieved as a string of summer blockbusters attracted huge crowds to cinemas and shattered ticket sales records.

So far in 2023, a total of 33 newly released movies have each grossed over 100 million yuan at the box office with the top three highest-earning films to date being the suspense comedy "Full River Red" by iconic director Zhang Yimou, the sci-fi sequel "The Wandering Earth II" and the crime thriller "Lost in the Stars."
