China's 2023 box office surpassed 40 billion yuan

According to data, China's box office revenue for the 2023 summer movie season had exceeded 40 billion yuan as of Friday morning, setting a new record. Additionally, moviegoers visit this summer have already surpassed 940 million across the country. It has surpassed the one billion yuan of 58 consecutive days.

Nine out of the top ten positions on China's box office chart are occupied by domestic productions. And over 85 percent of the total box office earnings are attributed to domestic productions. The top three films on the chart are “Full River Red, The Wandering Earth II, and Lost in the Stars” respectively. Other domestic productions currently being screened in the summer season.
