China says welcomes visit by Australian PM Albanese

China on Thursday said it welcome a planned visit by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and improving ties between Beijing and Canberra.

"The Chinese side welcomes Prime Minister Albanese to visit China at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang," foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said, adding "a healthy and stable China-Australia relationship serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples".
