China reports 21 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus, including 20 imported ones

Chinese health authority said on Tuesday that it received reports of 21 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and 13 new deaths on Monday from 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. As of Monday, the current number of confirmed cases was 8,976, and the current number of suspected cases was 128.

According to China's National Health Commission, of the new confirmed cases, only one was in central China's Hubei Province, the epicenter of the outbreak, and the other 20 were imported cases. Meanwhile, 45 new suspected cases were reported on the Chinese mainland on Monday, the commission said.

The latest data indicates that 930 patients were discharged from hospital, 1,105 close contacts were released from medical observation and the number of severe cases was reduced by 202 on Monday. No new suspected case was reported in Hubei on Monday, and the current number of suspected cases was three and one in Wuhan. By the end of Monday, a total of 235 confirmed cases had been reported in China's Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan region, with 157 in Hong Kong, 11 in Macao and 67 in Taiwan.
