China-Germany pledge to advance bilateral relations

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany on Saturday, with both sides vowing to enhance practical cooperation and advance bilateral relations.

Wang said China is ready to work with Germany to prepare for the next phase of high-level exchanges, enhance practical cooperation in various fields. Merz said Germany is committed to safeguarding the status and role of the World Trade Organization, adding that this is consistent with China’s vision for global governance. He expressed hope for close high-level exchanges with China to advance China-Germany relations.
