China becomes world's largest ship-owner

China has become the world's largest ship-owner in terms of gross tonnage, citing data from the United Kingdom-based Clarkson Research. Data shows, Chinese ship-owners has reached a total of 249.2 million gross tons in displacement, accounting for 15.9 percent of the world market.

In Dalian COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry in China, 10 ships ordered by Chinese ship-owners are stepping up construction. This year, more than 80 percent of all the new ship building orders for the company came from Chinese ship-owners. The shipyards are striving to improve their shipbuilding efficiency through the introduction of new technologies and intelligent management of production lines.
