China announces countermeasures against six US entities

Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday announced countermeasures against six U.S. entities including Applied DNA Sciences in response to the U.S. sanctions on Chinese firms over Xinjiang-related "forced labor".

This runs parallel to recent intense tech and AI disputes, where Beijing accused Washington of "AI hegemonism" over threats of probes into Chinese AI model distillation. U.S. officials previously threatened investigations and sanctions against Chinese AI labs such as Moonshot AI for alleged model distillation of U.S. intellectual property.
