









With the approval of the Ministry of Health and the Myanmar Medical Council, and under the arrangement of the Metta Shin Association (Taunggyi), a ceremony to present and fit sunglasses to eye patients who had undergone surgery at the Metta Shin Charitable Hospital was held on July 15 at the hospital in Taunggyi. The eye surgeries were jointly performed by ophthalmologists from Myanmar and ophthalmologists from the DAK Foundation of Australia.
At the ceremony, the Chairman of the Metta Shin Association introduced the ophthalmologists and executive committee members who participated in the eye surgery program, gave a brief history of the association, and Dr. Myo Thant, speaking on behalf of Dr. Bidya Prasad Pant, ophthalmologist of the Metta Shin Association, explained the progress and outcomes of the medical treatment program.
Afterward, Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe coordinated the necessary follow-up actions in response to the presentations made by the Chairman of the Metta Shin Association and the ophthalmologist. The Chief Minister then donated cash contributions, which were accepted by the Chairman of the Metta Shin Association and the responsible officials.
Next, the Shan State Chief Minister, state ministers, ministers for ethnic affairs, the State Advocate General, and the Secretary of the Shan State Government presented and fitted sunglasses to monks and members of the public who had undergone eye surgery.
The Metta Shin Charity Clinic and Hospital is providing free eye surgery to patients regardless of race or religion from July 9 to July 19, and that about 200 patients have undergone surgery to date, it’s learnt.
Following this, Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Shan State Farmland Management Committee, together with responsible officials, attended the Work Coordination Meeting No. (1/2026) of the Shan State Farmland Management Committee, held in the meeting hall of the Shan State Government Office. The Chief Minister delivered opening remarks, after which the committee secretary presented case files requiring decisions.
