Ceremony of Project Completion: MOST UM delivers the opening address

Under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation framework, a ceremony marking the completion of the "Establishment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory at Yangon Technological University" project, implemented by the Department of Advanced Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology at Yangon Technological University, was held at the University's Assembly Hall.

Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw attended the ceremony and delivered the opening address. This was followed by an opening speech by Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador of India to Myanmar. Subsequently, a Pre-AI Impact Summit Event documentary was shown.

The Acting Rector of Yangon Technological University explained the details of the "Establishment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory at Yangon Technological University" project, and a commemorative video of the project was viewed. Following this, the Rector of Keng Tung Polytechnic University presented information regarding preparatory activities for the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026 to be held in India.

The Union Minister and responsible officials then toured the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory and provided necessary guidance. The ceremony continued with its second part, discussing Myanmar's participation in the preparatory Pre-Summit Event Meetings for India AI Impact Summit 2026, the delegates who can attend and discuss in various Working Groups at the summit from Myanmar, and the possible areas of participation.

In the third part of the ceremony, under the "Establishment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory at Yangon Technological University" project, the Acting Rector of Yangon Technological University introduced a professor from SR University for the Capacity Building Training and explained about the AI Training. Professor Nitin M Gupta from SR University then conducted a lecture on Capacity Building in Artificial Intelligence technology, it’s reported.
