Celebrations in Sittwe: Rakhine Traditional Thingyan Water Festival

Rakhine Traditional Thingyan Water Festival commenced in Sittwe on 14th April, with the attendance of member of the State Administration Council Daw Aye Nu Sein, Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min, Commander of Western Command Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo and officials.

After formal opening of the ceremony, the SAC member extended greetings. The Rakhine State Government provided 25 million kyats cash assistance to the organizing committee.

The SAC member and party later enjoyed the entertainments of the dance torupes and participated in water throwing in the Rakhine traditional long boats.

The SAC member and party later attended the opening ceremony of the water pandal of General Administrative Department, and enjoyed the entertainment programs.

They later opened the water pandal of the Ministry of Science and Technology and viewed the revellers participating in the water festival.

The SAC member and party later visited Laywady pandal of Sittwe Station and enjoyed the entertainments. They also visited the central pandal in front of U Uttama Park and enjoyed the entertainments by the dance troupes and artists.
