Cat connoisseurs vie for best bred in Sao Paulo

Hundreds of cat owners were vying for the winner's ribbon in São Paulo as what organizers billed as the largest cat pageant ever held in Latin America began on Saturday.

São Paulo is known for having a high volume of cat owners because they are easier to keep as pets in the apartments of a sprawling city.

Some 234 cats from 20 different breeds were on display for the event; with titles including most beautiful and most well trained.

Four international judges, from Argentina, Italy, the Czech Republic and Norway, were in charge of deciding the winners.

Luis Credi, the owner of nine cats, including four world champions, proudly showed off his seven-month-old cat Yennefer.
