The massive deep-sea pipe-laying vessel ‘Castorone’ successfully navigated through the Istanbul Strait on 28th December, marking a significant step in Turkish Black Sea natural gas project. The vessel, measuring 39 meters in width and weighing over 100,000 gross tons, will lay 155 kilometers of pipeline as part of the second phase of Turkish Black Sea natural gas development project.

The vessel had previously passed through the Dardanelles Strait and traversed the Marmara Sea before reaching the Istanbul Strait. This specialized vessel will play a crucial role in laying the pipeline infrastructure necessary to transport natural gas discovered in the Black Sea to shore.
