Carter's body transferred to Washington, DC for final journey

The body of former US President Jimmy Carter is carried from the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum after lying in repose for four days to allow mourners to pay their respects.

The flag-draped casket of the former president is transferred to Washington, DC, aboard Special Air Mission 39, where it will lie in state at the Capitol until the burial ceremony on Thursday. Carter passed away on December 29, aged 100, in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.
