





The opening ceremony of the Staff Officer Capacity Building Training Course No. 14 of the Forest Department was held on January 19 at the assembly hall of the Forest Research Institute in Yezin, Nay Pyi Taw. Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, U Khin Maung Yi, attended the event and delivered the opening remarks.
In his speech, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi stated that the Forest Department has established policies and objectives for forest conservation, administration, and sustainable development. He explained that this training course was opened with the aim of enabling township-level Staff Officers to manage forest resources optimally, enhancing operational performance, ensuring that implementation follows departmental procedures, rules, and regulations. The Union Minister emphasized that special priority must be given to the success of the Myanmar Reforestation and Rehabilitation Programme (MRRP) to restore the country's forest cover and mitigate climate change. Furthermore, he urged officers to strive for the expansion of reserved forests, protected public forests, and nature conservation areas.
The training course will last for two weeks and is being attended by 20 trainees, it’s reported.
