California sea lion born at New York Aquarium

Visitors to the New York Aquarium experienced an unusual surprise on Memorial Day when a new member of the sea lion family arrived to celebrate the long weekend. A California sea lion pup, or Zalophuscalifornianus, was born in full view of the aquarium's morning crowd. Keepers say the new pup is healthy and is yet to be named. They have not yet been able to determine the pup's gender. This is the fifth pup born at the aquarium since its first in 2010.
