BTS comeback show draws 40,000 to Seoul amid tight security

K-pop group BTS drew more than 40,000 fans from around the world to Seoul for a comeback performance amid heightened security. The free outdoor concert took place in the city's Gwanghwamun Square. The global superstar boy band has returned to performing after being discharged from mandatory military service that began as early as 2022.

Authorities took thorough safety measures with the masses of fans. The precautions come after a crowd-crush in Seoul's Itaewon commercial district in 2022 killed more than 150 people, including foreigners. South Korean media said about 15,000 security personnel were deployed in the area.
