Britain to spend nearly £300 billion on military modernisation over four years, Starmer says

Britain will spend almost £300 billion ($397 billion) over the next four years to modernise its armed forces, outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Tuesday as he unveiled a 10-year Defence Investment Plan. The package includes an additional £15 billion in defence spending, funding for drones, long-range missiles, armoured vehicles and counter-drone systems, while boosting military readiness and ammunition stockpiles. 

Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister said  "We are increasing this by a further £15 billion, setting a new record of spending almost £300 billion over the next four years to back our armed forces and strengthen our national security."

Starmer also announced a new £50 billion defence export facility to support British defence firms and create jobs across the country.
