Brazil reports over 24,000 new COVID-19 cases as total rises over 1.36 million

Brazil on Monday reported over 24,000 new cases of COVID-19 as total cases  rose over 1.36 million. In the last 24 hours, 692 new deaths from COVID-19 were reported, raising the death toll to 58,314, the Brazilian Health Ministry said in its daily report.

Of those infected, 757,462 have recovered from the coronavirus, the ministry added. Brazil's COVID-19 death toll now accounts for more than 10 percent of the deaths across the globe, and 25 percent of that in the Americas, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO).
