Brazil activists mark Ocean Day with a big 'hug'

Dozens of activists gathered at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday in what they called "That Hug" to mark World Oceans Day. Participants held hands in a large line to "embrace the ocean" to draw attention to the improper disposal of waste, especially plastics, which have been causing significant damage to the oceans. The event took place simultaneously in three countries: Portugal, Brazil and the United States. After the event organized by the Route Brazil NGO, demonstrators picked up rubbish, mainly plastics from the sand on the beach.
