Boston Mayor Michelle Wu instantly transformed politics in New England's largest city when she became the first Asian woman elected as chief executive.
More than four months into office, Wu has transformed the city by introducing free bus services along three routes, used largely by the Boston's minority Black community.
She has also dismantled the city's notorious homeless encampment and offered evictees free shelter in transition housing and hotels.
Wu is keen to follow in the footsteps of Boston visionaries who pioneered investments in public services, by setting up the country's first public school, subway system, Public Park and large public library.
She said those public resources laid the groundwork for economic and social growth for large sections of the community.
