Boris Johnson officially assumed office as British Prime Minister on Wednesday. May officially handed over to her successor Johnson on Wednesday and she stepped down after just over three years in the job having failed to deliver Britain's exit from the European Union. In her final speech outside No.10 Downing, May congratulated Johnson wishing him and the government every good fortune in the months and years ahead. then May met with Queen Elizabeth to tender her resignation.

Following his meeting with Queen Elizabeth and his formal appointment, Johnson made his first speech outside No.10 Downing Street as prime minister. Johnson promised to lead Britain out of the European Union on Oct.31 with "no ifs or buts" and warned that if the European Union refused to negotiate then there would be a no-deal Brexit.
