Boosting Production of Edible Oil: Extended Cultivation of Edible Oil Crops Discussed

A Committee on Extended Cultivation of Edible Oil Crops held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday. Union Ministers U Win Shein, U Aung Naing Oo, U Tin Htut Oo, U Hla Moe and Dr Pwint Hsan, Deputy Minister Dr Aung Gyi and officials attended the meeting.

They discussed the extended cultivation of 1.5 million acre sun flowers for edible oil sufficiency of domestic consumption, import the quality seeds and development of modern oil mills. 

They also talked about the agricultural loan, boosting investments, benefit sharing contract between oil millers and farmers, formation of seed production cooperative associations, water supply through solar system, market competition and laying down the policies for production of edible oil.
