U2 front man Bono hailed Pope Francis for promoting "inclusivity" as he met with the pontiff alongside students attending an educational program at the Urbaniana Vatican University.

The Scholas Occurrents foundation was created by Francis in Buenos Aires and is aimed at educating young people to the principles of peace and integration.

Bono, whose real name is Paul David Hewson, praised the pope for creating the program and its emphasis on the education of girls. He addressed Francis with a question on the role women play in "tackling climate change".
